‘The Windings of the Forth’ is my homage to one of Scotland’s most powerful rivers. In this show, I’ve given free rein to the many different ways in which I express myself in paint and colour and so the show includes en plein air landscapes painted at the water’s edge, vividly imagined historical events and explorations of the graphic quality of the beautiful windings of the river. I’ll be in excellent exhibiting company as I’ve asked The Smith for magical contributions from their own extensive historic collection of paintings of the Forth to accompany mine. In addition there will be work from Allan’s Primary School, Stirling with whom I worked this year and also from Jayne Whitehead of Ivymaud Garden Design. I live by the River Forth in Stirling and Jayne has based the design of my new riverside garden on the Windings theme. I thought it would be a fine thing to include her creativity in the show.
