I was Historic Scotland’s first artist in residence and worked in Stirling Castle, 2011 – 2012. The deeply atmospheric castle hugely influenced my painting as I connected energetically with a powerful sense of place.
My previous experience as an ‘en plein air’ landscape painter complements my historically imagined work. Here, I work through layers of paint to find my subjects and it can feel like finding treasure when I find what I’m looking for.
Re-imagining time and place means my work carries a storytelling nature.
Commissioning a Painting
The first step is for me to draw your ideas and then, once we are all content, I will then embark on the painting itself. I would ask for a small drawing fee to be made payable on completion of the drawings and then an advance payment comprising a reasonable percentage of the final total.
I am very happy to talk about staged payments for the purchase of a painting so please do ask.
